30th-Sep-2007 12:07 pm - The great paradox of Christianity
Christianity has it roots in Judaism. One can flip through the Old Testament and see God depicted as an angry deity. He gives Adam and Eve a garden, they make one mistake and they're casted from paradise. He sends Moses on a 40 year trek only to die before getting there. He gives the Jews the "Promise Land" and sets the scene for centuries old battle of land ownership. He destroys a city because they want to rape an angel.

So thus, we now view God as a loving, just, and tolerant God. We have religious leaders saying so, but on the other hand, we have them saying God hates fags. So then, why would a loving, just, and tolerant God hate people? If we are indeed, created in the image of God, then how can people demonize homosexuals? An image after all is an exact likeness of something at a specific time.

Then, you could argue early humans were just as destructive as God was and now we're just as loving, just, and tolerant as he is now. Ha. We have never changed, we are fundamentally the same as we are. We have primal instincts just as any other animal. We attack people we know are weaker.

The religious leaders have money and power and they flaunt it. They preach a message of hate and not love. God speaks to them. God tells them they are in the right. You hypocrites. You tell yourself you're right. You tell yourself God hates fags. You preach "good news"? How is it good that a deity that is third most followed in the world hates a certain group of people, things, and food? Do people even bother to consider the context it was written in? No. Think. The pagans though not all did practice pederasty. Jewish writers were trying to discredit other religions and promote their own, a common trait among religions, so that their religion could survive. They believed it to be right so they wrote it.

Thus, is born a problem in today's world. Because of what some writers wrote thousands of years ago, we must suffer because of that thousands of years later. Why must we care who people love? They do not infringe on any of our rights.

Even so, the Catholic church believes that homosexuality is wrong because of the premarital sex part. Then why not give them the right to marry? If that's the only reason, then it is weak. Most likely what would happen if asked that, they would come up with some weak add-on excuse. There is no justifiable reason to exclude them. We only do so because we are "offended" that they would want to marry and have rights just as we do. "God" told us it was wrong. "God" told us what we were doing is right. You hypocritical blasphemers
Take the topic of justice, take any topic that has circumstantial buts, you can argue why any point is wrong or right, but you can't argue why your point is wrong or right.  It asks the question of what is the definition of the complex topic and you can't just give an definitive answer.  You can give your answer to what you believe is true, but someone else can say something different, yet still valid and you can agree to that.  So how yet can you argue why something is just or not?  You can't.  You can argue your point and defend it, but if you avoid fallacy, you are left with little much to stand on.  To prove your point, you have to turn to fallacies.  Thus in lies the problem.  Fallacies make the point invalid or unsound.  So your argument is weak.  How can you be objective if you can't even provide a sound argument for something everyone knows what but not why?

Yea, I say to you hypocrites.  You create fallacies to prove your point.  You assume stealing is bad, yet you do not explain or justify why.  That is a fallacy.  Your argument is weakened.  You use Anecdotal Evidence fallacy to put it into perspective.  You create more instances from that anecdote and you still speak as if it to be true.  You say we must disregard circumstantial things and what ifs as they distract us from the point we try to prove.  I say you cannot even prove the point with arguments to begin with so why must we assume something to be true and disregard things.

Human nature cannot grasp these universal concepts that are innate to us.  We know them to be true and we cannot explain them as easily as we can explain why we believe things.  This happens so with religions.  We cling to our beliefs and do not know why we follow them.  The texts for most religions are thousands of years old and outdated.  We like the idea, but we can't follow every idea.  There is no evidence for all things in the book, yet we use the book for arguing.  The book creates circular reasoning.  "Why do you believe it to be true?" "The book says so." "Why should I believe the book?" "The book says so."  We just cannot explain why we believe things.  We clasp to the fallacies for answers, yet they weaken our arguments.  How can you call yourselves learned men?
With racism and prejudice in our society, political correctness should seem like a welcome change. However, when political correctness goes as far as to make others afraid to speak their minds even in a country with the freedom of speech. When you start taking away freedoms of the people for no reason, directly or indirectly, then there are problems. If courses continue, it will not be a democracy, it will be a dictatorship. However, since this is a democracy, we have a choice in our future. The system may be flawed at times, but it is quite powerful when it can be used.

Back to political correctness, as more and more things become "offensive," more and more people will be afraid to say things that may offend people. People need to be more open minded and have a sense of humour about themselves. In an age of work 'til you die, I believe we have lost our sense of humour in life. That and working 'til you die will be harmful to a person's health and may cause an earlier death.

Hypocrisy seems to go with political correctness as well. We're all high and mighty when someone calls us "something we aren't," yet the same people are bigot assholes. If it offends you so much, then why don't you consider other's feelings when you're being a bigot/racist hypocrite. Religion is no justification to your stupidity. If you consider a book more powerful than other's feelings, maybe you should just follow everything the book says and go back to treating your spouse like shit and owning slaves. Times change and if you aren't open to it doesn't mean you have to protest because you find it wrong.

Religion has no place in a country that isn't under a theocratic rule. Yes, the country can display anything you want preaching the news as it's your free speech right, but you can't just assume that your religion is best for a country. Every religion preaches itself as the "one true religion." A religion should be a way to guide YOUR life, not others, even those that don't follow your religions.

Separation of Church and State is something that should be in place. They do not mix well. They never have. Yet, in our egos, we think we are doing society a great justice and promoting God's word. Why? Because we have been brainwashed to. We are no different from what we call terrorists. They call us infidels because we don't follow Allah's word. We call them terrorists because they don't follow God's message.

But, mostly this all stems from ignorance and prejudice. We use our prejudices to define everyone associated with that group. They are somewhat right, but they don't apply to all. We are ignorant for calling nations/races/people things without even understanding them. If we could only just learn to understand others, we might not have violence.

Alas, all these changes will not come easy. Some will need to be forced, by amendment or a slip from greatness. Some can be achieved by understanding others, but unless we step down from our pedestals and treat others as equals, we will not see one bit of change.
